The Regional Project Grants Program (RAP Grant)
Regional Artist Project grants are awarded to artists in all disciplines on a regional basis through a competitive application and review process. The grant awards are funded by the North Carolina Arts Council and by a regional consortium of local arts councils. Regional Artist Project grants support professional artists at any stage in their careers to pursue projects that further their artistic development. The average grant award is between $500 and $1,000. Types of fundable projects include:
Creation of a new work
Purchase of equipment
Professional development workshops
Travel support for expenses associated with participating in a professional exhibition or conference.
Development or updating promotional materials - websites, brochures, DVDs and CDs.

The Eastern North Carolina regional consortia consists of arts councils from Beaufort, Bertie, Camden, Carteret, Chowan, Craven, Currituck, Dare, Duplin, Edgecombe, Gates, Greene, Halifax, Hertford, Hyde, Jones, Lenoir, Martin, Nash, Northampton, Onslow, Pamlico, Pasquotank, Perquimans, Pitt, Tyrrell, Washington, Wayne and Wilson Counties in conjunction with the North Carolina Arts Council, a state agency.
Pitt County Arts Council at Emerge serves as lead for the Eastern North Carolina Regional Consortium, and receives the Regional Artist Project grant applications, schedules regional training sessions for artists, and manages the grant selection process. Council for the Arts Announces Availability of Grassroots Grant Funds of Community Organizations
Grassroots Grants are designed to support arts activities occurring between July 1, 2013 and June 30, 2014. Non-profit arts organizations or non-profits planning an arts activity may apply. An applicant must have non-profit 501c(3) status. The applicant organization must be based in Onslow County. Grants are not awarded to support fund-raising activities.
A representative of each first time applicant must discuss their proposal with Connie Wenner, Director of the Council for the Arts, before completing the application. Representatives of previous applicant organizations are also encouraged to ask questions or discuss application drafts. Applications must be delivered to the Council for the Arts building by 4:30pm on.. TBA... Applications are available at the Council's office, located at 826 New Bridge Street in downtown Jacksonville, or maybe emailed from the Council for the Arts.
Subgrants require a dollar for dollar match from subgrantees for each dollar awarded. The Council for the Arts is the designated county partner for the Grassroots funds allocated to Onslow County. These funds are used for many of the Council's activities as well as distributed as sub grants to local organizations.
The Council's Grassroots Grants Review Committee has the discretion to make award recommendations that it feels will best aid the arts in Onslow County. 12 organizations were awarded FY 2012-2013 groups

The Tarradiddle Players presents: Three pigs build houses; the one who builds his out of brick doesn't get eaten by the Big Bad Wolf and lives to tell the tale. But is that the whole truth or just porcine propaganda? That's the question raised in this brilliant parody of the Three Little Pigs that follows the Big Bad Wolf on trial for his purported deeds. And with his own version of the story, the audience becomes the jury and helps decide: guilty or not guilty! Children's Theatre of Charlotte's Tarradiddle Players perform in this hilarious rock musical, based on John Scieszka's wildly popular book.
